National Youth Leadership
Training
National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is
the new youth leadership training developed by the BSA. The
course aligns youth leadership training with that received
by adults in 21st Century Wood Badge.
NYLT concentrates on a modern, systematic learning
approach to the skills of leadership, with an emphasis on
both theory and practical application. The course centers
around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what he must
KNOW, and what he must DO. The NYLT experience models a month
in the life of a troop – emphasizing the patrol method,
model Patrol Leaders’ Council meetings, and skills and
activity sessions to help Scouts develop leadership and teamwork,
and guide patrols on their "Quest for the Meaning of
Leadership". Participants will build a “Toolbox
of Leadership Skills” to take back to their home Units.
Sunday, June 28 – Friday, July 3
Monday July 6 – Saturday, July 11
